This site is dedicated to creating and sharing a visual record that captures the distinctive character of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area and the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. The neighboring cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre are often collectively referred to as EC/DC (as in Electric City/Diamond City). While historically known as the Electric City, Scranton is currently more famous for being home to a small but not insignificant branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.

Lackawanna County Courthouse
The county courthouse sits right in the center of downtown Scranton. Lackawanna county is one of 67 counties in Pennsylvania. The building has a weighty physical presence that harkens back to the days when coal was king and Scranton was an important hub of the anthracite coal industry.

Grand old building, indeed. It looks massive and very solid, like an earthquake won't make a single dent on it.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the CDP community! Looking forward to learning more about (yet another) city that I know nothing about. :)
Now I finally know what Scranton looks like! Up until now, I knew only that "The buses headed for Scranton travel in pairs"... (according to Ogden Nash)
