Northeastern Pennsylvania marks the northeastern border of a huge area of Marcellus shale that extends to the west and south into Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. A huge amount of natural gas is obtainable, but there is substantial risk to waterways and wells, and a huge battle is raging between supporters and opponents of drilling. This site is dedicated to creating and sharing a visual record that captures the distinctive character of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area and the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. The neighboring cities of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre are often collectively referred to as EC/DC (as in Electric City/Diamond City). While historically known as the Electric City, Scranton is currently more famous for being home to a small but not insignificant branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
